A historic exhibition brings together the work of pitman painter Oliver Kilbourn and art critic William Feaver - including a number of pictures of the Allendale area. Tamzin Lewis finds out more.

Their friendship was forged through a love of art. Oliver Kilbourn was the miner who discovered an innate talent for capturing the world around him and William Feaver, pictured, is an art critic who now favours landscape painting over writing.
The man behind a Northumberland brewery has been shortlisted for a national award for young entrepreneurs. Tom Hick, 28, set up Allendale Brewery in 2006, building a business which now supplies more than 100 pubs across the region.
His achievement has earned him a place on the shortlist for the Young Rural Entrepreneur of 2008 award.
