The county is judged as outstanding in the categories of staying safe, making a positive contribution, and capacity to improve. It is rated as good at overall effectiveness, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, and achieving economic well being.
Trevor Doughty, the county's executive director children's services, said: "I'm delighted with this annual performance assessment. The report demonstrates that we have identified where we needed to improve, and have made those improvements.
"Ofsted's findings underline that we are continuing to build on our record of delivering good services to children and families."
County council leader Coun Jeff Reid said: "Providing the best service possible to children and families is a top priority, so it's wonderful that Ofsted recognises that we provide good and outstanding services to children, young people, and their families.
"This makes for a good basis for these services when we switch over to the new council for Northumberland; however it is important to me that we continue to strive to improve even further. I'm confident that we will achieve this."
